Experts from all aspects of the book industry, including publishers, writers, editors, book designers and professional copywriters, judge the Beverly Hills Book Awards competition. Contest winners and finalists are determined based on “overall excellence of presentation – a synergy of form and content” over a wide range of genres.

Tabitha Fink and the Patchwork Pirates is the latest in the Tabitha Fink children’s picture book series, written and illustrated for early readers. Tabitha Fink is a cat with one eye that loves to explore.  Her adventures teach children about self-esteem as well as self-confidence when confronting new and unfamiliar situations.

Patchwork Pirates is the story of a pirate captain and her first mate, who recruit a new crew of pirates and head off in search of buried treasure,” said Felty.  “It’s a fun adventure, but on a deeper level the book is actually about how powerful a diverse group of people can be when they bring their unique abilities together.”
